Greg Secker-Entrepreneur in Finance with a Heart

Greg Secker was born on February 18, 1975 in Norfolk, England. He established the Knowledge to Action Group in 2003. This group is made up of four organizations: Learn to Trade, SmartCharts Software, Capital Index, and The Greg Secker Foundation. The Greg Secker Foundation was created in 2010. The initiatives offered by this foundation are education, life skills, and youth leadership. Some of the programs that the Greg Secker Foundation has are The Christmas Basket Brigade, Youth Mentoring Program, and Early Childhood Development Program. He visited the Philippines after Typhoon Haiyan occured. Secker developed the “Build a House, Build a Home” to restore the houses that were damaged by the typhoon.

Opportunity and boredom are the sources for Greg’s ideas. For the most part, Greg is a remote worker. He travels when needs to attend public events. Mr. Secker is really excited about the circulation of information from broadcasters to the people thanks to the power of technology. Allowing time for reflection on how to make things better is one of the habit that makes Greg Secker more effective. The worst job Secker had was at a bar. From his experience at this job, he learned body language. One thing that Greg would change in his life if he was to start again would be to enjoy the present moment and not rush to the future. Mr. Secker graduated from the University of Nottingham, where he majored in Agricultural and Food Sciences. He started his career at Thomas Cook Financial Services.

In 1998, he was given the British Telecom award for e-commerce innovation because he invented Virtual Trading Desk (VTD). Secker was Vice President at Mellon Financial Corporation. Greg’s passion for philanthropy was recognized when he was named one of the top “200 Most Influential Philanthropists and Social Entrepreneurs” in 2007. He was named a finalist in the 2010 London Excellence Awards. Secker’s rank in the 2010 Sunday Times Fast Track 100 Awards was 49th place.
