Eric Lefkofsky is an entrepreneurial genius who has been successful with multiple enterprises and continues to be so to this day. Growing up in Southfield, Michigan, Eric graduated from Southfield-Lathrup High School in 1987 and graduated from the University of Michigan with honors in 1991. Continuing with the University of Michigan Law School, he received his Juris Doctor in 1993. After college, Eric along with his friend Brad Keywell started an early internet company called Starbelly that specialized in promotional products. Starbelly experienced huge internet growth and eventually was sold to Halo where Eric joined as chief operating officer.

Eric eventually moved on from Halo and co-founded Innerworkings in 2001. Innerworkings achieved solid growth for years and in 2006 had a succesful initial public offering in the U.S. stock market. Eric Lefkofsky stayed on the board of directors until October 2012 but moved on to other enterprises long before then. The freight logistics company called Echo Global Logistics was put together by Lefkofsky and Keywell in 2005 and in 2006 went public on the NASDAQ and to this day is being successfully traded under the symbol ‘ECHO’. In 2008 Eric co-founded Groupon, which is is a middleman service that promotes different city’s restaurants and stores and encourages people to try new ones by offering deals and promotions. Groupon became massively successful and, in fact, turned down a $6 billion offer from Google in 2010. While Groupon is still successful to this day, Eric left that company earlier on to pursue other business opportunities. These other opportunities include the companies Lightbank and Tempus.
Eric Lefkofsky is a generous philanthropist who donates plenty of money and time to organizations in his home town of Chicago. Eric and his wife Liz started The Lefkofsky Family Foundation in 2006, which focuses on ensuring access to quality education for all, improving fundamental human rights, propelling innovative medical research, and expanding cultural initiatives. Him and his wife have also donated millions of dollars to cancer research and cancer centers. Eric’s open hearted approach to philanthropy is a model to all.
